Milton Square is a mixed-use complex along Como Avenue in the St. Anthony Park neighborhood of St. Paul, MN, housing nine residential flats and 13 commercial storefronts. The original buildings along Como Avenue were built in 1909, while the additional structures along Carter Avenue were completed in 1912.
Mary Ann Milton, one of the first female realtors in St. Paul, purchased the complex in 1957 and is the current owner. Milton promoted the site’s European design, attracting fashionable boutiques and cafes as tenants. Milton and the complex were frequent topics in Oliver Towne’s popular columns in the St. Paul Dispatch newspaper. Towne is believed to be the source of the name “Milton Square.”
Today, Milton Square is a St. Anthony Park landmark still fully occupied by local businesses. The complex is a must-see destination for Twin Cities shopping and dining. Stop by for a truly charming neighborhood experience!
